Voice and Piano Teacher in Eugene

Freya teaches vocal lessons, as well as beginning piano, clarinet, and ukulele.

 

She is a choral music education major at the University of Oregon and has performed in various ensembles including the Oregon Chamber Choir and Oregon Bach Festival. She is experienced in classical voice, musical theater, early music, jazz, and opera.

How did you end up at Music Masters?
Teaching music is my greatest passion. I enjoy building rapport one-on-one with students where I can customize lessons to their interests, learning styles, and goals. As a college student, being able to tailor my schedule while working with people who are looking to grow their musicianship couldn’t be more ideal!

What sparked your passion for music?
I began singing when I was four years old and fell completely in love with it. I continued to pursue community ensembles, live theater, and festivals throughout my education and never looked back.

How did your music go from there?
As I took on more leadership roles in my ensembles, I realized how much I value teaching. I am still a performer, but to me there is nothing more precious than getting to witness a breakthrough with a student!

What are your current music projects and aspirations?
I am currently studying musical theater, jazz, classical, and Irish folk music while continuing to build a community with other choral directors in the area!

What do you express through your music?

Singing is so personal and unique that I feel a true extension of myself is being shown every time I perform; I love being able to connect with myself and others through art.

Your message to aspiring artists:

Everybody can be successful in the performing arts. It can be easy to compare yourself to others, but something that is so special about music is that there will never be another artist like you– enjoy every bit of it!
