How’d you end up at Music Masters?
After teaching private lessons in Florida for several years, I recently moved to Oregon and was looking for the right right place to continue teaching. Thanks to Music Masters, I am thrilled to be working for a locally owned lesson facility with a very personable staff and great instructors!
What sparked your passion for music?
My interest in music began with the drums around age ten. My mother played piano at home, and I have early memories of listening to my parents cassette tapes and vinyl collection.
How’d your music go from there?
I started taking piano and drum lessons around the same time, and shortly afterwards auditioned for LaVilla School of the Arts, which led to me playing percussion in the school’s symphonic band. I then continued to advance my music studies at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts where I performed in many concerts on a state and national level. As an adult I have enjoyed playing with a variety of bands ranging from rock, jazz, folk, and country.
Who would you most wanna jam with?
What do you express through your music?
My goal when playing music is to allow the listener to experience an emotion, whether that emotion is joy, excitement, or even a feeling that cannot be expressed in words. In general I would describe it as uplifting or empowering.
Your message to aspiring Artists?
Practice often, play passionately, and make as many friends through music as you possibly can. There is an incredible large and diverse community of amazing musicians out there. Don’t try to pin yourself down to one sound or idea. Find different ways for your music to reach out to people, and think about what kind of feeling you’re trying to communicate.
